Local Government EngineeringDepartment (LGED) recruited 23 fresh B.Sc. Engineer (Mechanical), first of itskind, in the position of assistant engineer (mechanical) in 1996 to establishan efficient management and maintenance system of huge equipment fleet both atdistricts and head quarter. Of them, one mechanical engineer is posted at LGEDhead quarter and the other 22 are posted in 22 greater districts to look afterthe costly construction equipment as well as transports and other electromechanical activities. The assistant engineers posted in greater districts arealso equally responsible for the effective operation and maintenance of allequipment of other sub-districts under his jurisdiction. This Mechanical unitis the first setup of LGED and headed by Executive Engineer (Mechanical). It iscontributing their best and playing pioneer role by providing technical supportin the rural, urban and water sector development of the country since 1996.
